The Frente Nacional de Libertação de Angola (FNLA) sought an unspecified interim measure to prevent accreditation of the founding committee of a prospective party called UPA, arguing that the name forms part of its historical heritage and could be confused with its identity. The Court refused the measure because the accreditation request was still pending before the President of the Constitutional Court, so there was no well-founded fear of harm.
