PRESIDENT OF THE CONSTITUTIONAL COURT SPEAKS ON THE VISION OF THE CONSTITUTION OF THE REPUBLIC OF ANGOLA REGARDING DEFENCE AND SECURITY
The Vision and Role of the Constitution of the Republic regarding National Defence and Security was the theme of the keynote lecture delivered on the morning of this Monday, 25 March 2024, by the President of the Constitutional Court, Justice Laurinda Prazeres, to the participants in the 2nd CURSO DE DEFESA E SEGURANÇA (Defence and Security Course), held by the Ministry of National Defence, Former Combatants and Veterans of the Homeland.
The training initiative, which has its legal basis in Resolution 1325/2000, of 31 October, of the United Nations Security Council, on Women and Security, is aimed at senior national officials of the Defence and Security bodies, at senior staff of the Legislative and Executive Powers, and at representatives of the member countries of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP).
In her address, the President of the Constitutional Court drew the attention of the course participants to Articles 202, 206 and 209 of the Constitution of the Republic, concerning national security, to Resolution 15/84 of the National Assembly, which ratifies the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women, and to Presidential Decree 143/17, which establishes the Action Plan for the Implementation of the Resolution on Women, Peace and Security.
The event, which took place in the Conference Room of the Army Command, in Luanda, was also attended by the Minister of State for the Social Area, Dalva Ringote Allen, and by the Minister of National Defence and Veterans of the Homeland, João Ernesto dos Santos.
