The Attorney General applied for a declaration dissolving the Partido de Massas Democrático (PMD), which had not taken part in the 2008 or 2012 elections. The Court found it proven that the party had failed to stand in two consecutive elections, a ground for dissolution under Article 33(4)(b) of the Political Parties Law, the reasons for its absence being irrelevant as the requirement is objective. It declared the party dissolved and ordered its registration cancelled and its liquidation.
