SummaryUnofficial

The Attorney General applied for the dissolution of the Movimento para Democracia de Angola (MPDA) party, which, as part of the Nova Democracia coalition, obtained 0.23% of the votes in the 2012 general elections. The party cited voter abstention, scarce resources and the allegedly undemocratic nature of the rule. The Court declared the party dissolved, as it had not reached the legal minimum of 0.5% of the votes, a minimum representativeness requirement grounded in Article 17(2)(g) of the Constitution.
