The President of the Constitutional Court, Justice Laurinda Monteiro Cardoso, is heading an important delegation from the Constitutional Court of Angola that will take part, from 22 to 24 November 2022, in the Kingdom of Morocco, in the 6th Congress of the Conference of Constitutional Jurisdictions of Africa (CJCA), an organisation that Angola has chaired since 2019.
At this edition, the 6th Congress of the CJCA will address the relationship between the African Constitutional Jurisdictions and International Law, and there will also be room for the election of the country that will lead the institution over the coming years, replacing Angola.
Comprising 48 constitutional institutions, the CJCA, headquartered in Algeria, is an African institution that brings together the African courts responsible for ensuring full compliance with the Fundamental Law in their respective countries, and it works directly to promote constitutional justice, the exchange of experience, the promotion of constitutional case law and the dissemination of the universal values and principles of the Rule of Law, Democracy and Human Rights, as enshrined in the preamble to the Constitutive Act of the African Union.
The Vice-President of the Constitutional Court of Angola, Guilhermina Prata, and Justices Carlos Teixeira, Victoria Izata and Júlia Ferreira are also members of the delegation.
Luanda, 21 November 2022.
