The Vice-President of the Constitutional Court, Justice Victória Izata, is leading the delegation of the Constitutional Court of Angola that is taking part, from 27 to 30 November 2025, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, in the 4th International Legal Symposium of the Conference of Constitutional Jurisdictions of Africa (CJCA).
The meeting is organised by the Conference of Constitutional Jurisdictions of Africa and aims to promote the exchange of experience between African constitutional courts, to strengthen judicial cooperation and to analyse the main challenges and opportunities linked to constitutionalism and state-building on the continent.
With the participation of around 350 delegates, including constitutional judges, academics, policy-makers and representatives of civil society, the event is being held under the motto “Constitutionalism and State-Building in Africa.”
The delegation also includes Justice Amélia Varela and other officials of the Court.
“Constitutionalism and Democracy, the Experience of 50 Years of Constitutional Democracy in Angola” will be the topic presented by Justice Victória Izata in the second panel of the seminar, devoted to Systems of Constitutional Review, the Rule of Law and Human Rights.
The Symposium is a strategic opportunity to strengthen Angola’s institutional presence, to encourage the sharing of good practice and to contribute to strengthening the rule of law and democratic governance in Africa.
