The President of the Constitutional Court of Angola, Justice Laurinda Prazeres, is taking part, from 28 to 31 October, in Madrid, capital of the Kingdom of Spain, in the 6th Congress of the World Conference on Constitutional Justice (WCCJ).
During the four days of the event, which brings together delegations from 122 Constitutional Courts, Councils and Supreme Courts from Africa, the Americas, Asia, Oceania and Europe, topics of great global relevance will be debated, such as the human rights of future generations, the preservation of natural resources and the environment, the safeguarding of the cultural heritage of humanity, and access to scientific knowledge and new technologies.
Held every three years, the WCCJ Congress aims to promote the independence of constitutional courts and equivalent bodies, to foster the exchange of experience and good practice, and to strengthen the protection of human rights and the rule of law.
According to the event programme, the President of the Court, Justice Laurinda Prazeres, will be rapporteur of the panel dedicated to the
Preservation of Natural Resources and the Environment, which will also feature Olga Sovgyria, President of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine; Marco D’Alberti, Judge of the Constitutional Court of Italy; Mandisa Maya, President of the Constitutional Court of South Africa; and César Tolosa Tribiño, Judge of the Constitutional Court of Spain.
The Angolan delegation also includes Justice Emiliana Margareth Nangacovie Quessongo and senior officials of the Constitutional Court.
