On 11 November 2025, the Republic of Angola celebrates the 50th Anniversary of National Independence. Accordingly, this year the Constitutional Court is holding the Jornadas dos 50 Anos do Constitucionalismo Angolano (Conference Series on 50 Years of Angolan Constitutionalism), an initiative of great legal, academic and cultural value that reflects the country's constitutional evolution over half a century.

The Jornadas begin on 5 February 2025 in the Province of Luanda with the International Conference “O Constitucionalismo como Expressão da Independência e Soberania dos Estados” (Constitutionalism as an Expression of the Independence and Sovereignty of States). This event will feature prominent national and foreign experts from South Africa, Algeria, Cabo Verde, Mozambique, Turkey and Portugal, who will hold a comprehensive and multidisciplinary debate on the foundations of constitutionalism.

During the Jornadas, the Constitutional Court also plans to launch the “Prémio Académico 50 Anos do Constitucionalismo Angolano” (50 Years of Angolan Constitutionalism Academic Prize) and the “Concurso de Arte e Cultura Constitucional” (Constitutional Art and Culture Competition), as an incentive for the production of academic works and a variety of artistic expressions in the categories of photography, literature, painting and sculpture, with a focus on Constitutional Law.

Also in the course of the year, the range of activities includes other events of strategic importance, such as the Moot Court, the launch of the 3rd edition of the academic journal “A Guardiã” and the Intermediate Seminar of the Conference of Constitutional Jurisdictions of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CJCPLP).

The programme will culminate in the traditional Ondjango da Constituição (community forum on the Constitution), a space for interaction between the Justices of the Constitutional Court and society, which reinforces the commitment to constitutional literacy, thereby seeking to strengthen citizens' legal culture.
