Cairo hosted the 18th Session of the Executive Bureau of the Conference of Constitutional Jurisdictions of Africa (CJCA)
The President of the Constitutional Court, Justice Laurinda Prazeres Monteiro Cardoso, is in the city of Cairo, Arab Republic of Egypt, where on this Friday, 24 January 2025, she took part in the 18th Session of the Executive Bureau of the Conference of Constitutional Jurisdictions of Africa (CJCA).
In addition to Angola, which holds one of the vice-presidencies of the Executive Bureau for the southern region of the continent, the event was attended by representatives of the constitutional jurisdictions of Zimbabwe (which holds the presidency of the Conference), the Democratic Republic of the Congo, South Africa, Somalia, Gabon, Ethiopia, Seychelles, Côte d'Ivoire, Mozambique, the Kingdom of Morocco, Algeria and the host country, Egypt.
Among the items on the agenda of the 18th Session of the CJCA Executive Bureau, particular prominence was given to the review and approval of the report on the activities carried out in 2024, as well as the organisation's proposed programme and budget for the current year of activity.
Composed of 49 full members and 4 observers (Brazil, Russia, Turkey and Iraq), the CJCA is an African institution that brings together the African jurisdictions responsible for ensuring respect for the Supreme Law in their respective countries, and its objectives are the promotion of constitutional justice and the exchange of experience and information among its members.
