Justice Carlos Teixeira has been sworn in as President of the Second Chamber of the Constitutional Court, succeeding in this role Justice Júlia Ferreira, who recently retired.

The handover ceremony, witnessed by the President of the Constitutional Court, Justice Laurinda Cardoso, and by the members of the Court, took place on Monday, 17 February 2025.

It should be recalled that the Constitutional Court has two chambers with the same substantive powers, both being competent to hear ordinary appeals on grounds of unconstitutionality and to assess the lawfulness of the formation of coalitions of Political Parties.

In addition to its President, the Second Chamber of the Constitutional Court is composed of Justices Gilberto Magalhães, Josefa Neto, Vitorino Domingos Hossi and Lucas Quilundo.
