The Secretary-General of the Episcopal Commission for Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation of CEAST (Episcopal Conference of Angola and São Tomé), Father Celestino Epalanga, came to the Constitutional Court to invite the President of the Court, Justice Laurinda Prazeres, to take part in the Congresso Nacional da Reconciliação (National Reconciliation Congress). The invitation was extended on the morning of this Monday, 6 October 2025, during an audience granted by the President of the Court to the CEAST delegation.
During the meeting, Father Celestino Epalanga, who on this visit was accompanied by the Reverend Father Afonso Ligorio and by Leonor de Freitas, Executive Secretary of CEAST, presented the objectives guiding the holding of the National Reconciliation Congress, stressing that the event is intended to be a space for reflection, sharing and dialogue on national reconciliation.
According to the priest, the National Reconciliation Congress, to be promoted by the Catholic Church, will take place on 6 and 7 November as part of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of National Independence, and will be unifying and inclusive in character, with around 600 participants expected.
