The appellant, held in pre-trial detention since January 2018 on suspicion of criminal association and trafficking in goods, lodged an extraordinary appeal on grounds of unconstitutionality against the Supreme Court judgment refusing his habeas corpus application, alleging procedural irregularities and an unreasoned decision to keep him in custody. As he had meanwhile been granted provisional release, the Court held that the proceedings had become moot, since the purpose of the appeal had already been achieved.
