Two appellants, held in pre-trial detention for more than ten months, lodged an extraordinary appeal on grounds of unconstitutionality against the judgment of the Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court rejecting their habeas corpus application, alleging that the time limits of the Law on Precautionary Measures in Criminal Proceedings had been exceeded. As the Luanda Provincial Court had meanwhile granted them provisional release, the Constitutional Court found that the proceedings had become moot and did not examine the merits.
