The appellant, remanded in custody on two separate occasions in the same criminal case, lodged an extraordinary appeal on grounds of unconstitutionality against the Supreme Court judgment refusing his habeas corpus application, alleging that the pre-trial detention time limit had been exceeded. The Court found the appeal unfounded because, adding both periods of pre-trial detention but not the time spent under an identity and residence undertaking, the legal time limits were being complied with when the application was made.
