Two appellants, convicted of aggravated tax fraud and, in one case, also of criminal association and money laundering, challenged the judgment of the Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court, alleging a substantial alteration of the charges and a breach of the prohibition of reformatio in pejus. The Court rejected their claims, holding that the legal requalification had not altered the facts in the indictment and that a heavier sentence was permissible because the Public Prosecution Service had also appealed against the defendants.
