Three appellants brought an extraordinary appeal on grounds of unconstitutionality against a Supreme Court judgment upholding their homicide conviction, requalified as simple homicide with reduced sentences, alleging breaches of legality, the presumption of innocence, in dubio pro reo, fair trial and effective judicial protection. The Court found no breach, because the conviction rested on a legitimate assessment of circumstantial evidence and the legal classification of the offence fell outside the scope of those principles.
