A journalist and the news portal A Denúncia brought an extraordinary appeal on grounds of unconstitutionality against a judgment of the Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court convicting them of defamation, calumny and abuse of press freedom, invoking freedom of the press, expression and information, legality and in dubio pro reo. The Court dismissed the appeal because the appellants had not proved the facts they alleged against the complainants and the evidence sufficed for conviction, without breach of those rights.
