The Angolan Bar Association (OAA) lodged an extraordinary appeal on grounds of unconstitutionality against a Supreme Court Plenary judgment upholding the annulment, at the request of ENDIAMA, E.P., of a 2014 resolution of its National Council requiring parties to be represented by lawyers in arbitrations seated in Angola. The Court dismissed the appeal, holding that arbitration rests on party autonomy and that the UNCITRAL rules allow representation by any person, with no breach of Articles 193 and 195 of the Constitution.
