A citizen convicted of homicide and unlawful possession of a weapon, whose sentence the Supreme Court had reduced to 16 years and 4 months under the new Penal Code, lodged an extraordinary appeal alleging breaches of legality, fair process, in dubio pro reo and proportionality. The Court dismissed the appeal, holding that it could not reassess the evidence or the merits of the decision and that the sentence imposed did not infringe those principles.
