Finibanco Angola, S.A. lodged an extraordinary appeal on grounds of unconstitutionality against a Luanda Court of Appeal judgment declaring its interlocutory appeal, concerning a fine for failure to pay the initial court fee, lapsed because its submissions were filed late, invoking the principles of legality, proportionality, effective judicial protection and fair trial. The Court dismissed the appeal, since the bank had neither proved a legitimate impediment nor paid the applicable fine, and the lapse was not disproportionate.
