The Public Prosecution Service and seventeen defendants convicted of embezzlement, money laundering and other offences appealed against a Supreme Court judgment altering the Luanda Court of Appeal's decision on sentences and extended confiscation of assets. The Court partly allowed the appeals: it annulled the judgment for nine defendants given unappealable 3-year sentences by the Court of Appeal, for breach of non bis in idem; upheld the appeals of the prosecution and another defendant; and dismissed the other seven.
