A defendant charged with aggravated breach of trust, criminal association and tax fraud lodged an extraordinary appeal on grounds of unconstitutionality against the decision of the President of the Luanda Court of Appeal refusing his habeas corpus application, alleging excessive pre-trial detention without committal and that detention was inappropriate given his family situation. The Court dismissed the appeal, as the detention, since followed by conviction, remained within legal limits and was neither disproportionate nor contrary to the presumption of innocence.
