Two appellants, convicted of aggravated robbery and possession of prohibited weapons, appealed against the Supreme Court judgment reducing their combined sentence to eight years' imprisonment under the more favourable new criminal law, alleging breaches of the presumption of innocence, fair trial, proportionality and material truth. The Court dismissed the appeal because the decisions rested on the free assessment of evidence in accordance with the Constitution and the law, without breach of the principles invoked.
