A citizen detained since 2018 and convicted at first instance of intentional homicide in 2019, whose appeal had awaited a Supreme Court decision for more than six years, appealed against the order of the President of the Supreme Court upholding the refusal of his habeas corpus application, alleging excessive pre-trial detention. The Court allowed the appeal, declared the order unconstitutional for infringing legality, fair trial, liberty and the presumption of innocence, and ordered the appellant's immediate release.
