Grupo Desportivo Sagrada Esperança lodged an extraordinary appeal on grounds of unconstitutionality against a Supreme Court judgment upholding an order to pay wages to an athlete it had declared to have abandoned his job. The Court allowed the appeal and declared the judgment unconstitutional for denying effect to the club's representation by its Secretary-General, treating an unproven telephone dismissal as established, and awarding wages beyond the contract term and lawyer's fees, breaching equality, legality and a fair trial.
