A defendant appealed against a judgment of the Criminal Chamber of the Luanda Court of Appeal rejecting his habeas corpus application, alleging that the pre-trial detention time limits had expired and that their extensions were unlawful. The Court found that the extension was neither arbitrary nor contrary to the principle of legality and, since the appellant had meanwhile been convicted at first instance, terminated the proceedings as moot.
