A citizen sentenced by the Uíge District Court to two years and six months' imprisonment, upheld by the Uíge Court of Appeal, lodged an extraordinary appeal on grounds of unconstitutionality, invoking a fair trial, the right of defence and legality, as the facts dated from 2005. The Court allowed the appeal, as criminal proceedings were already time-barred when the retrial took place, and remitted the case for the proceedings to be closed.
