He is the Deputy Attorney General of the Republic, João Simão Chapópia Leonardo, who becomes the new Representative of the Public Prosecution Service at the Constitutional Court, replacing Celestino Paulo Benguela, who recently retired.

Before his appointment as Representative of the Public Prosecution Service at the Constitutional Court, João Simão Chapópia Leonardo was assigned to the Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court.

The Constitutional Court is the supreme body of constitutional jurisdiction provided for in the Constitution of the Republic of Angola, with general responsibility for administering justice in legal-constitutional matters. In accordance with its Organic Law, at sessions of the Plenary of the Court the Public Prosecution Service must be represented by the Attorney General of the Republic, who may delegate those functions to a Deputy Attorney General.
