She is Justice Júlia de Fátima Leite Ferreira, elected by the Plenary at a meeting held on 20 February of this year, thereby succeeding Justice Simão de Sousa Victor, who recently retired.

The Constitutional Court has two Chambers, which have the same substantive powers and are competent to hear ordinary appeals on grounds of unconstitutionality and to assess the lawfulness of the formation of coalitions of Political Parties.

The Second Chamber of the Constitutional Court is also composed of Justices Carlos Manuel dos Santos Teixeira, Gilberto de Faria Magalhães, Josefa António dos Santos Neto and Vitorino Domingos Hossi.

The Vice-President, Justice Victoria Manuel da Silva Izata, presides over the First Chamber.
