The curtain has fallen on the 29th edition of the World Law Congress, organised by the World Jurist Association and held in Santo Domingo, capital of the Dominican Republic.
The event, held from 4 to 6 May, was closed by King Felipe VI of Spain, who was flanked by the President of the Dominican Republic, Luís Abinader, and by the Presidents of the Constitutional Courts of the Dominican Republic and of Angola, Napoleón Lavandier and Laurinda Cardoso, respectively.
During the ceremony, Felipe VI presented the Peace Award to Justice Sonia Sotomayor, the first Hispanic American to sit on the Supreme Court of the United States.
Over three days, some 5,000 participants, including Heads of State, judges of superior and supranational courts, policymakers, academics, lawyers, activists and students, discussed topics of global interest, notably constitutional justice, the energy transition, cybersecurity, migration, climate justice, freedom of expression and gender equality.
