The Constitutional Court has rejected the registration of the proposed political party named Partido Patriota Republicano (PPR) (Republican Patriotic Party), owing to strong indications of forgery of documents.

The Order signed by the President of the Constitutional Court, Justice Laurinda Jacinto Prazeres, states that, in the course of the technical and legal assessment intended to verify the legal conformity of the documents submitted with the application to create the party in formation, well-founded suspicions arose as to the authenticity of a large part of the documentation, with indications that it may have been produced by fraudulent means.

The said Order, dated 11 June 2025, also identified various shortcomings, namely in the Minutes of the Constituent Congress and in the criminal records of the coordinator and of other members of the Founding Committee.

In view of the evidence of manipulation and the proven forgery of documents, under Law No. 22/10, of 3 December – the Political Parties Law –, the President of the Constitutional Court decided to reject the registration of the political project Partido Patriota Republicano (PPR), and also ordered the cancellation of the accreditation of the respective Founding Committee.
