As of Monday, 17 August 2026, the Constitutional Court is opening applications for the 2nd Edition of the Prémio Académico sobre o Constitucionalismo Angolano (Academic Prize on Angolan Constitutionalism), an initiative aimed at Angolan university students of Law, with the purpose of encouraging scientific research and promoting the study of Constitutional Law and Constitutional Justice.
The Prize aims to stimulate university students' interest in scientific research on Constitutional Law, to promote study of and reflection on Constitutional Justice and to bring the Constitutional Court closer to Higher Education Institutions, and it challenges students to produce works of a scientific nature relating to the Constitution of the Republic of Angola and related matters.
APPLICATIONS OPEN UNTIL 30 OCTOBER 2026 Under the rules, the Prize is open to students of Angolan nationality, aged between 20 and 25, enrolled in a Faculty of Law of a Higher Education Institution located in the national territory, who have completed at least the third year of their academic studies.
Works must be submitted exclusively in digital format, via the Constitutional Court's portal, and candidates must complete the application form with their personal and academic details, as well as information on the work submitted. Applications must be submitted by 30 October 2026.
INCLUSIVE PRIZE The 2nd Edition of the Academic Prize on Angolan Constitutionalism also ensures conditions for participation for students with visual or hearing impairments or other limitations that may affect the production or presentation of works in conventional formats. To this end, candidates may, under the terms provided for, submit their works in accessible digital formats, including files compatible with screen readers, enlarged characters or other means suited to their specific needs.
ENCOURAGING CONSTITUTIONAL RESEARCH
By holding the 2nd Edition of the Academic Prize on Angolan Constitutionalism, the Constitutional Court reaffirms its commitment to promoting constitutional literacy and to encouraging research and academic reflection on legal and constitutional matters.
The initiative also forms part of the Constitutional Court's strategy of drawing closer to the academic community, contributing to the development of scientific knowledge about the Constitution, Constitutional Law and Constitutional Justice, particularly among young law students.
The Constitutional Court, as Guardian of the Constitution of the Republic of Angola, intends, through the Prize, to stimulate ever more active participation by the academic community in the study of constitutional issues and in the deepening of constitutional culture in Angola.
