The President of the Luso-American Development Foundation, José Manuel Durão Barroso, visited the Gallery of Angolan Constitutionalism on Monday, 25 May 2026, where he was received by the President of the Constitutional Court, Justice Laurinda Prazeres.
On viewing the items on display in the Gallery, Durão Barroso expressed his satisfaction with the level of information available and congratulated the Constitutional Court on the initiative.
“I want to congratulate the Constitutional Court on the creation of this Gallery. I consider it an excellent initiative, because it portrays the political history of Angola, from the period before independence to the consolidation of the country as an independent and sovereign State”, said the former President of the European Commission.
During the visit to the Gallery of Angolan Constitutionalism, while receiving explanations of the different phases that have marked the history of Angolan constitutionalism, Durão Barroso shared with those present several episodes relating to the process that preceded the signing of the Bicesse Accords in 1991.
Justices Carlos Burity, Maria de Fátima, Gilberto Magalhães and Victorino Hossi were also present.
Durão Barroso, a former Prime Minister of Portugal, is in Angola to take part in the Congresso Internacional de Liderança Assertiva (International Congress on Assertive Leadership), organised by the Angolan Diplomatic Academy.
