“The Praxis of the Constitutional Court in Angola” was the theme of the keynote lecture (aula magna) delivered on Thursday, 28 May 2026 by the President of the Constitutional Court, Justice Laurinda Prazeres, to students and lecturers of the Faculty of Law of Katyavala Bwila University, magistrates and government authorities of Benguela Province.

In her presentation, Justice Laurinda Prazeres focused on the organisation, functioning and powers of the Constitutional Court, and also addressed the evolution of Angolan constitutional case law and the role of constitutional justice in strengthening the Democratic State governed by the Rule of Law enshrined in the Constitution of the Republic of Angola.

During the keynote lecture, the President of the Constitutional Court also highlighted the importance of constitutional interpretation in consolidating democratic institutions and in safeguarding the fundamental rights, freedoms and guarantees of citizens.

Laurinda Prazeres travelled to Benguela Province at the invitation of the Rector of Katyavala Bwila University, as part of the academic activities promoted by the institution.

Before the keynote lecture, the head of the Constitutional Court witnessed the public defence of the dissertation for the degree of Licenciatura in Law by the Regedor (traditional authority) of the Municipality of Navegantes, Avelino Wali.
