Mourning, dismay and deep sorrow marked the farewell to Justice Vitorino Hossi.
Saturday, 22 August 2026, will remain indelibly etched in the memory of the relatives, friends and colleagues of Justice Vitorino Domingos Hossi, and of all those who followed the course of his life.
At the Army General Headquarters, the former RI20, the funeral mass was celebrated, presided over by the Archbishop of Luanda, Dom Filomeno do Nascimento Vieira Dias, in a moment of spiritual contemplation and of tribute to the memory of the deceased.
After the religious ceremony, various messages of tribute and condolence were delivered by institutions that had been directly linked to the remarkable political and professional career of Vitorino Domingos Hossi.
The Superior Council of the Public Prosecution Service, the Superior Council of the Judiciary and the Angolan Bar Association highlighted his dedication, his professional career and the contribution he made to the institutions of Justice.
Likewise, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the political party UNITA and the Family delivered heartfelt messages of condolence, evoking the human, professional and civic dimension of the deceased.
In one of the most emotional moments of the ceremony, the President of the Constitutional Court, Justice Laurinda Jacinto Prazeres, handed over to the family the professional insignia of Justice Hossi.
The gown, the collar, the medallion, the cap and the ring were handed over, one by one, to the relatives, in a gesture of profound institutional and symbolic significance, followed in silence and with great emotion by those present.
The mortal remains of the nationalist and Justice Vitorino Domingos Hossi were subsequently laid to rest in the Santa Ana Cemetery, in Luanda, in a ceremony witnessed by members of the judiciary, Members of Parliament, politicians, academics, members of the diplomatic corps, relatives, friends and citizens who joined in the final farewell.
His departure for eternity leaves a deep sense of loss and dismay, particularly among all those who shared with him the different moments of his personal, political, professional and institutional life.
The Seventh-Day Mass will be celebrated next Tuesday, 25 August, at 6.30 pm, at the Igreja da Sagrada Família (Church of the Holy Family), in Luanda.
