Two appellants, held in pre-trial detention in criminal proceedings, lodged an extraordinary appeal on grounds of unconstitutionality against the Supreme Court judgment refusing their habeas corpus application, invoking Article 64 of the Constitution (deprivation of liberty only as provided by law). The Court declared the proceedings moot, since the appellants had meanwhile been tried while at liberty and given a suspended sentence, so that their rights were safeguarded.
