Two citizens sentenced to 4 years' imprisonment for aggravated robbery and unlawful possession of a firearm appealed against the Supreme Court judgment refusing them habeas corpus, alleging excessive pre-trial detention and a breach of the right to liberty. Finding that the appellants had withdrawn their ordinary appeal, so that the first-instance conviction had become final, the Court held that the habeas corpus claim could no longer be examined and closed the proceedings as moot.
