A citizen lodged an extraordinary appeal on grounds of unconstitutionality against a judgment of the Benguela Court of Appeal upholding his pre-trial detention, invoking the principles of necessity and adequacy of coercive measures, the right to liberty and the presumption of innocence. Since the appellant had meanwhile been released after the injured party withdrew her complaint, the Court declared the proceedings terminated as moot.
