The observers of the Conference of Constitutional Jurisdictions of Africa (CJCA), who are in Angola at the invitation of the National Electoral Commission (CNE) to observe the General Elections, paid a courtesy visit to the Constitutional Court this Friday, 26 August 2022.
Ndiaw Diouf, of Senegal, Secretary-General of the CJCA, who headed the observer mission, received explanations on the role of the Constitutional Court within the scope of its powers relating to the electoral process from the Vice-President of the Constitutional Court, Justice Guilhermina Prata, who did the honours of the house on behalf of the President, Justice Laurinda Cardoso.
Made up of 47 African constitutional jurisdictions and three non-African members, the CJCA, headquartered in Algeria, is an African institution that brings together, in a common African space, the African courts responsible for ensuring compliance with the Constitution and which, in its various tasks, works directly to promote constitutional justice, the exchange of experiences and information on constitutional case law.
Justices Simão Victor, Carlos Burity da Silva and Maria de Fátima Silva also witnessed the meeting, which was further attended by the Executive Secretary of the CJCA, Moussa Laraba, of Algeria.
