The President of the Constitutional Court, Justice Laurinda Prazeres Monteiro Cardoso, is in Rabat, capital of the Kingdom of Morocco, where on 26 and 27 January 2024 she is taking part in the 16th Session of the Conference of Constitutional Jurisdictions of Africa (CJCA).
Made up of 48 African constitutional jurisdictions and several observer members, the CJCA will, at this session, examine, among the various items on the agenda, the report on the activities carried out in 2023, the state of cooperation with the African Union, and the organisation's Programme of Activities and budget for the current year.
The proceedings of the 16th Session of the Conference of Constitutional Jurisdictions of Africa will be led by Mohammed Amine BENABDALLAH, President of the Court of the Kingdom of Morocco and of the Conference of Constitutional Jurisdictions of Africa.
The Conference of Constitutional Jurisdictions of Africa is an African institution that brings together the African Courts responsible for ensuring full compliance with the Fundamental Law in their respective countries. It works directly on promoting constitutional justice, on the exchange of experience, on promoting constitutional case law and on disseminating the universal values and principles of the Rule of Law, Democracy and Human Rights, as enshrined in the preamble to the Constitutive Act of the African Union.
