He is Manuel João Lucas Quilundo, appointed by the President of the Republic to fill the vacancy for a Justice of the Constitutional Court.

The new Justice will replace Justice Júlia de Fátima Leite Ferreira, who was retired by means of Resolution No. 55/2024, of 6 December.

The Constitutional Court is composed of 11 Justices appointed from among jurists and judges and, in accordance with Article 181 of the Constitution of the Republic, four Justices are nominated by the President of the Republic, including the President of the Court.

Four are elected by the National Assembly by a 2/3 majority of the Members in office, including the Vice-President of the Court;

Two Justices are elected by the Superior Council of the Judiciary and one Justice is selected by public competition based on professional record, in accordance with the Law.

The Justices of the Constitutional Court are appointed for a non-renewable term of office of seven years.
