ENAPP hosts the event.

Invited to speak on the first panel of the event, the President of the Constitutional Court, Justice Laurinda Cardoso, spoke on the Guarantees of Fundamental Environmental Rights in the Constitution of Angola.

In her address, Laurinda Prazeres covered the doctrinal and legal framework of environmental law, its constitutional protection and the main challenges to giving it effect in the national context.

The President of the Court highlighted that the Constitution establishes a robust basis for environmental protection. She stressed, however, that giving effect to those principles requires solutions adapted to Angola's historical and socio-economic context.

“It is imperative to strengthen the infra-constitutional legal instruments, with a focus on the reform of Law 5/98 of 19 June, the Framework Law on the Environment. Angola has the opportunity to consolidate an environmental constitutionalism that responds to its realities and ensures dignity and protection for present and future generations”, she concluded.

The International Conference on Environmental Education, organised by Darglor FIRME and Will Advogados, in partnership with the Faculty of Law of Agostinho Neto University and the Euro-American Centre for Constitutional Research of the University of Salento, opened this Tuesday, 9 December, at the National School of Public Administration and Public Policy (ENAPP).

The President of the Court of Auditors, Justice Sebastião Gunza, the Ombudsman, Florbela Araújo, and Júlio Pinheiro, Justice of the Court of Auditors of the State of Amazonas, also took part as speakers in the event, which ends tomorrow, Wednesday, 10 December.
